LaGrange Christian Church(Disciples of Christ)

Celebrating, growing, and building for the future. We're delighted you're visiting our website, and would like to offer some information about our congregation and denomination. For details on the following information, please contact the minister or the church office at 222-1369 or use our e-mail address on the home page.

Our Mission

We seek to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ known to ourselves, our families, our communities and our world through worship, study, proclamation, and service.

God calls us to welcome all persons, to celebrate an open Lord’s Table and to promote the values of justice, mercy, tolerance, faith, hope, and love as visible realities in our world.

Our Denomination

Our congregation is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) which is among the largest religious bodies native to the United States.

Disciples confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We affirm the Bible as authoritative in life and faith, yet we recognize and honor different interpretations. Disciples uphold the freedom of church members to study the Bible for themselves and encourage all persons to arrive at their own responsible conclusions. While there is diversity in belief among Disciples, we are united in our conviction that God wants us to love, study, worship, and serve in the Spirit of Christ.

Our service is a blend of our historical and traditional roots with more contemporary expressions of faith. Throughout the year special services are celebrated.  Currently we have one worship service every Sunday at 10:45 am.

The Lord’s Supper

We invite everyone to share in the Lord's Supper. Please hold the elements and we will partake of the bread and cup together. We use this time for silent communion with God.

Sunday School

We consider basic Biblical teaching and Christian values foundational to spiritual life in all ages and stages. Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. and we have a variety of classes.  Supervised childcare is available for infants and toddlers during Sunday School, Worship, and special events.

Children - An Important Part of Worship

We recognize the importance of children in the worshipping community and welcome them into God's presence. On Sundays when we have the Children's Blessing to Children's Worship & Wonder, preschool- and elementary-aged children sit down in the front of the sanctuary for the blessing and then they will go to Children's Worship & Wonder room where they will "witness" the biblical story in a unique way and then work with the story.

Music Programs

The music ministry of our church seeks to reach all people by focusing on ministry through music communicating the good news of God's love and grace in a variety of ways.  Instrumentalists, soloists and our music teamn sing both traditional as well as contemporary music to enhance the variety of vocal offerings.

Service to the Community

Our outreach to the community includes work with the Ministerial Association, High Point Ministries (Dare to Care Foods), Ronald McDonald House, Tape Ministry, and special needs as they occur. We also provide a meeting area for Alcoholics Anonymous, Homemakers and LIFT (program for widows & widowers).

Programs and Activities

We have many ongoing programs and activities for all age groups. These include Tuesday Night's Children & Youth, Vacation Bible School, youth lock-ins, Sunday evening programs, and special social outings. Adult activities include Christian Women's Fellowship, Peer Groups for all ages and Bible Studies.  We also enjoy church sports teams, and retreats.

Becoming a Member

In keeping with our Disciple heritage, this congregation practices baptism by immersion and baptizes those who believe in and publicly confess their faith in Jesus Christ. We welcome people who come to us from other traditions. In true ecumenical spirit, we do not require them to be immersed. If you have been baptized of another church of any Christian denomination, you may reaffirm your faith in Christ and place your membership with LaGrange Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). All who express a desire to become a member will be asked: "Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and have you accepted him as your Lord and Savior?" Those who have not been members of any church may be members by making that same confession of faith and being baptized.

Hope You'll Come Again!

We hope you find us to be a welcoming community of faith and will return often.
